Actinium

Definition

Actinium is a radioactive chemical constituent with the symbol Ac and atomic number 89, which was exposed in 1899. It was the initial non-primordial radioactive constituent to be isolated. Polonium, radium and radon were experimental before actinium, but they were not isolated in anticipation of 1902.

Application

Ac is used in medicine to produce Bi in a reusable producer or can be used single-handedly as an agent for radio-immunotherapy for Targeted Alpha Therapy (TAT).
