Company Description

The Eastern Range mine is an iron ore mine located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, 10 kilometres south-east of Paraburdoo. The mine is partly owned and operated by Rio Tinto Iron Ore and is one of twelve iron ore mines the company operates in the Pilbara. In the calendar year 2009, the combined Pilbara operations produced 202 million tonnes of iron ore, a 15 percent increase from 2008. The Pilbara operations accounted for almost 13 percent of the worlds 2009 iron ore production of 1.59 billion tonnes.

Eastern Range mine is a copper-gold-silver mine located in the North-Eastern part of Australia, near the town of Cloncurry in Queensland. It is one of the largest copper-gold-silver mines in Australia and is owned and operated by Newcrest Mining Limited. The mine is located in the Eastern Fold Belt of the Mount Isa Inlier, which is a major metallogenic province in Australia. The ore body at Eastern Range is a large, high-grade, sediment-hosted deposit of copper, gold and silver. The ore body is hosted in a series of quartz-sericite-pyrite alteration zones and is surrounded by a series of shear zones.

The ore is mined using a combination of open-pit and underground mining methods. The open-pit operations are carried out using conventional drill and blast techniques, while the underground operations use long-hole stoping methods. The ore is then transported to a processing plant located on-site, where it is crushed, milled and then treated with cyanide to recover the copper, gold and silver. The copper, gold and silver are then separated and refined to produce a concentrate that is then sold to customers.

The mine has been in operation since 2010 and has produced over 2.5 million tonnes of ore, with an average grade of 1.3% copper, 0.3 g/t gold and 10 g/t silver. The mine has a current life of mine of 16 years, with an estimated total resource of over 4 million tonnes of ore. The mine employs over 800 people and is expected to produce over 100,000 tonnes of copper, gold and silver each year.

Eastern Range mine is an important contributor to the local economy and provides employment and business opportunities for the local community. The mine also has an active community engagement program, which includes providing educational and recreational activities for the local community.
