Hindustan Copper Ltd. is a Government-owned corporation in the Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Mines (India), Government of India. HCL is the only vertically integrated copper producer in India engaged in a wide spectrum of activities ranging from Mining, Beneficiation, Smelting, Refining and Continuous Cast Rod manufacturer.

Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) is a Government of India Enterprise, which is a leading integrated copper producer in India. It is the only vertically integrated copper producer in the country, engaged in a wide spectrum of activities ranging from Mining, Beneficiation, Smelting, Refining and Continuous Cast Rod manufacturer. The company was incorporated in 1967, and was initially set up to exploit the copper ore deposits in Khetri, Rajasthan.

HCL is the first Public Sector Unit to enter into the field of copper production in India. It is the only producer of primary copper in the country and produces copper cathodes, continuous cast copper rods, copper sulphate, sulphuric acid and other copper products. HCL has four copper mines and four smelting and refining units. The company is also engaged in the manufacture of copper wire rods, copper strips, copper tubes, copper sheets and copper rods.

HCL has also ventured into the field of renewable energy and has set up a 5 MW solar power plant at its Khetri Copper Complex. The company has also set up a solar power plant in Gujarat. The company is also involved in the exploration of copper and other minerals.

HCL is the largest copper producer in India and has a significant presence in the global copper market. It has the distinction of being the first Indian company to be listed on the London Stock Exchange. The company has also been awarded the ISO 9001:2008 certification for quality management systems.

HCL is committed to sustainable development and has adopted a number of initiatives to reduce its environmental impact, such as the use of renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste management.
