Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Ltd (KIOCL) is a Government of India enterprise that is engaged in the mining and export of high-grade iron ore. It is headquartered in Mangalore, Karnataka and is one of the largest iron ore mining companies in India.
KIOCL was established in 1976 and was initially owned by the Government of Karnataka. In April 2006, the Government of India took over the management of KIOCL and it is now a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Steel. The Kudremukh mine is one of the largest open-pit iron ore mines in the world and is spread over an area of 3,000 hectares.
