The Marandoo mine is an iron ore mine located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, 45 kilometres east of Tom Price. The mine is fully owned and operated by Rio Tinto Iron Ore and is one of twelve iron ore mines the company operates in the Pilbara. In the calendar year 2009, the combined Pilbara operations produced 202 million tonnes of iron ore, a 15 percent increase from 2008. The Pilbara operations accounted for almost 13 percent of the worlds 2009 iron ore production of 1.59 billion tonnes.

Marandoo mine is an iron ore mining operation located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Owned and operated by Rio Tinto, the mine is one of the largest open-cut iron ore mines in the world, producing about 30 million tonnes of ore each year. The Marandoo mine is located around 40 kilometers east of the town of Tom Price, and is part of the Hamersley Range, a mountain range in the Pilbara.

The Marandoo mine is an open-cut operation, meaning that it is mined from the surface down, with large earth-moving equipment used to excavate the ore. The ore is then transported to the nearby port of Dampier, where it is loaded onto ships for export. The ore is then processed at Rio Tinto’s nearby processing plant, where it is turned into iron ore pellets.

The Marandoo mine has been in operation since the late 1990s, and is expected to continue producing ore for many years to come. The mine is operated by Rio Tinto’s Iron Ore division, which is responsible for producing and shipping iron ore from all of Rio Tinto’s operations in the Pilbara region.

The Marandoo mine is an important part of the local economy, providing jobs and economic benefits to the town of Tom Price and the surrounding area. The mine also supports a number of local businesses, including contractors, suppliers, and other service providers.

Overall, the Marandoo mine is an important part of the Pilbara region, providing jobs and economic benefits to the local community. The mine is also a major contributor to Rio Tinto’s iron ore production, and is expected to remain an important part of the company’s operations for many years to come.
