Company Description


Uranium Corporation of India (UCIL) is an centrally owned Public Sector Undertaking (PSU), under the Department of Atomic Energy for Uranium mining and Uranium Processing. The corporation was founded in 1967 and is responsible for the mining and milling of Uranium ore in India.

Uranium Corporation of India (UCIL) is a public sector enterprise under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. It is one of the largest and most profitable public sector undertakings in India. UCIL was established in 1967 with the objective of mining and processing of uranium ore to meet the requirements of the Indian nuclear power programme. It is engaged in mining and processing of uranium ore, production of nuclear fuel and other nuclear materials for atomic power plants, and research and development activities related to nuclear power.

UCIL has three operating mines in the state of Jharkhand, namely, Jaduguda, Bhatin and Narwapahar. It has two processing plants, one at Jaduguda and the other at Tummalapalle in Andhra Pradesh. It has also set up a research and development centre at Jaduguda to undertake research and development in the field of uranium ore processing and nuclear fuel technology.

UCIL is also involved in the exploration of uranium reserves in India. It has undertaken exploratory activities in the states of Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Meghalaya, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. It has also set up an exploration division in the Department of Atomic Energy to undertake exploration activities in the states of Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

UCIL has also made significant contributions to the development of nuclear power in India. It has been an important player in the development of nuclear fuel cycle technology and has been involved in the development of nuclear reactors. It has also been involved in the development of advanced fuel cycle technologies and reprocessing technologies.
