Canada Nickel Company Inc. has reported high nickel recoveries from its Reid Brook nickel-cobalt-copper project located in the central part of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
The company said that it has achieved nickel recoveries of up to 95% in its initial metallurgical test work. It added that the results have exceeded expectations and have confirmed the potential for a high-grade nickel-cobalt-copper concentrate. The company said that the results of the test work indicate that the Reid Brook deposit is amenable to conventional gravity and flotation processing, which could potentially reduce the capital and operating costs of the project.
The company also said that the results of the metallurgical test work were used to inform the technical report for the Reid Brook project, which was released in February 2021. The report showed that the project has an estimated mineral resource of 1.3 million tonnes of ore, containing an estimated 0.22 percent nickel, 0.05 percent cobalt, and 0.17 percent copper.
The company said that the results of the metallurgical test work are expected to further de-risk the project and make it more attractive to potential investors.
